Well everything came out pretty good...except the decal..It went on great, but after applying the epoxy, you''ll notice by the ''N'' on the decal.I got some weird blemish??..I think it was water trapped in the thread that didnt show until it reacted with the epoxy..The only problem with that theory is that I used a low heat hair dryer to dry out the thread and decal...It was perfect before epoxy..Ill figure out what went wrong....I'll probably strip the whole thing off this weekend and redo it,I dont think I can live with that blemish...I work too hard to ''settle''

Hopefully you can see the single wraps of white thread in the hook saver and butt wrap...I thought it came out nice!.

That's a shocker, even considering rapala's slow climb up the price ladder in the last year or so.

They've also got a the new DT Thug comming out, but I won't being buying that one... I still don't know if I'll be buying this one! At that price, I think I'd rather try out an LC Pointer.

Hi Guys...

I just picked up a new party barge last saturday and took her out first thing sunday morning... It was great.. first boat and can't figure out why I waited til I was in my 50's to do this. ( well yes I can, child, college tuition, etc. ) but now our son is out on his own so his mother and I decided to bite the bullet. We bought a 2010 Bennington 20 SFi. Obviously we're not going to set any speed records on a pontoon ( 75 yamaha 4 stroke ) boat, but it sure is comfortable to ride around the lake on, and even to fish off of, although we didn't get a bite. So here's my question, right now I have the boat parked in my driveway next to my garage. Boat has a cover on it protecting the inside of the boat. I've been considering taking it to one of these boat storeage places but that brings up a couple of issues. Most of the "enclosed" boat storeage places around here want between 125 to 150 a month rental. While that may not be terrible, it's alittle more than what I want to pay just to park a boat. I did find a place that is 85 a month, but not "completely" enclosed. It's almost like a small airplane hanger with 3 walls and a top, one side open all the time. That seems to be all I need in that it would keep the boat out of the rain and out of the sun in the summer. It's not climate controlled so whatever the temp is outside, that's pretty much going to be the temp in the boat storeage. My question is do I need to put it in storeage? If so is the open ended hanger good enough or do I really need to put it in a completely enclosed building, or is parking it in my drive ok? Never owned even a row boat before this past weekend so I'm completely out of my element here and could sure use some expert advice. By the way, the boat is really sweet.. got some pics on the digital camera, if I can figure out how to get them here I'd like to get your opinions. Thank you guys for your help. by the way, with regard to storeage and our climate, I'm located in the northwest corner of Louisiana. Coldest it gets is around 25, mostly in the mid to lower 30's for the most part. Thanks again..
I thought it would be interesting to see what knots we all use and for what.

I think that for most applications we can get by with 1-3 knots. Here are mine:

Palomar Knot
IB's Notes:
* This is a no brainer knot. Simple and fast to tie, especially when it is very cold out.
* I used it when drop shotting or when it is practical to use. For example, I won't use it on a lure like a large crankbait or spinnerbait or any lure where the loop needed to accomodate the lure is ridiculously large. For me it can invite sloppiness in the tying of the lure (that's me) and it wastes line.
*I will use for any line type.

Improved Clinch Knot (ICK)
* Another easy to tie knot.
* I like to use it on baits that might be a pain (loop wise) with the palomar
* It works well with mono or FC. I have tested it and can vouch that it will slip with braid without modification.

Trilene Knot
* A good knot, and I use it when I don't feel like tying the Improved Clinch knot.
* I also like to use it in my salmon fishing.
* I have used it for all line types.

Double Uni and Albright Knots
* Both are great knots.
* These are the two knots I use for joining lines.
*If the line diameters vary considerably, the Albright gets the call.

Rapala Knots (2)
* I use them for their baits, because they recommend them for their baits. :D
* However, sometimes I forget to tie either one of them when I'm on the water so I wind up using the trilene or ICK :o

I was just wondering what kind and if everyone here fishes with sunglasses. I find that they help take the strain off of my eyes even in cloudy weather. They also let me see those hawgs under the lawgs. I wear Oakley Straight Jackets with Deep Blue Iridium Lenses.

Believe it or not, I've been fishing without the aid of a depth finder for 28 years. It's just been me, the jon boat and old fashioned figurin it out. I'm tired of fishin "blind" so I plan on buying a depth finder this comming spring for my jon boat. Nothing fancy or expensive. My 12 ft jon boat is powered by an electric trolling motor so I'm not going to be jet setting around the lake. :p The last two depth finders I did have were the old flasher units. Needless to say, things have changed a lot since those days. I've been looking at several models from both Eagle and Hummingbird that sell for less than $230.00. The main question I have is this...what is the advantages of a color display over a monochrome display? What will color tell you that monochrome won't? Also, being I am going to be using the depthfinder on a jon boat, how would you best suggest mounting the transducer? Using a trolling motor bracket or a transom mount? Thanks for any suggestion you might have!
