Maybe if I'd stop telling my life story or get a new laptop, one from this century?

Figuring is good. Imagination is important to fishing in countless ways.

Master the arts of flipping, pitching, and roll casting! Shade is a type of cover. Bass love it in the summer in smaller ponds.

You can do all of these things with a spinning reel.
Roll casting involves keeping the lure close to the rod tip, very close. Then just roll your wrist around getting a feel for how the particular rod you're using is gonna' throw the lure. Carve little ovals in the air with your wrist and snap that bad boy loose when it feels right. It's the one of the three that is easiest with a baitcasting reel. I can't really explain it too well, sorry. It's so much easier to show people.

It just involves side-arm casting (sorta') for getting under trees or what have you, and letting the lure stay low and land subtly. Hopefully, one of the veterans see this and can explain it better.

Whoever told you that you can't flip or pitch without a baitcaster is a liar.

Those are even harder to explain. Watch the fishing shows religiously and eventually you'll see how it's done. Kevin Van Dam has a DVD available at Bass Pro Shops that covers flipping and pitching - Pitching to Heavy-hitters. Zooker also recommends it (without trying to sell anyone anything). I'm not sure if KVD has one involving the roll-cast, but he does it very often.

KVD showed us the roll cast at the bassmaster university when i was there. Its really alot easier to lear when you see it being done.
