Discovering Tacklewarehouse.com was the equivalent of an alcoholic trying heroin. The free shipping makes me do things I never should do. I must have spent $5,000 there in 2008 and I have already dropped $650 in 2009. I am so ashamed! Hi everyone, my name is Marc and I am a tackleholic... |

Tacklewarehouse and lately www.monsterfishingtackle.com A lot of their prices can be beat, but when they do sales, they are pretty darn good.
Anything to feed the habit.....

It used to be baseball cards. I've given up everything else up to satisfy the monkey. Thank goodness this addiction is innocuous.

Hi, my names Tyler and I have a problem,
Some people might try to rearrange their gear to satisfy the monkey...but that just gets him more excited 4 me. Try moving father away from stores like Bps and Cabellas. And make sure you dont have internet or credit cards.

When I lived in Texas (DFW area) I was a Platinum Rewards member at BPS. That's when you spend way too much money.

I agree, but this has to be the only one where our success is measured by the destruction of the things we use. If I am not having to purchase more plastics then I am not catching.

Cass that's a good way of looking at it. I also do the same, I do like buying new baits but more often than not I'm replacing and or stocking up on the baits that I know produce.

I think I finally beat the bait monkey this year. Took years of effort and hard work. Also took a wife that was just about ready to kill me if I kept on buying fishing stuff at what was my present rate. Just printed out my winter BPS order, and with shipping it's a mere $225. No new rods, reels, or electronics needed this year. Of course that figure doesn't include the latest rowboat (used)we added to our ever growing fleet. I consider that a capital expenditure that actually appreciates with age. Something my 401k or IRAs can't do.

Signs that you have a problem.
You agree to go shopping with your wife for dresses and find yourself wondering if they make a jig in that color. You have ever made the conscious choice to skip meals to save money for a rod. (if you asked your wife or kids to skip a meal for this, your condition is not curable) You now stash fishing money in a place in your wallet where you once housed “protection” so your wife can not find it. You got your on line order delivered to work in hopes of sneaking it into the house or boat. You own the helicopter lure. You added security to your home or car just to protect your fishing gear. You bought a lure you had never seen before and found out you already owned it when you tried to put it away. You have turned down an intimate moment because you were going fishing in the morning. (tournament fishing might be excluded) You carry a photo of your rod or reel in your wallet. You tried to convince your non-fishing family the value of a fishing family vacation. You can remember your fishing buddy’s birthday but not your wife/girlfriend. You have adjusted your home owner’s insurance just because of your fishing gear. You ever posted a question on bassfishin.com asking everyone else which you should buy. And lastly, you are actively trying to own as much stuff as Zooker.
