Oddly enough plastics haven't produced well for me at all so far this year. I don't know what the water temps are but the fish are starting to turn on. I've caught the majority of my fish on traps and hard jerkbaits, mostly traps though.

Man, if the water here was 70 I would be throwing a top water till my arm fell off!!! lol. If the top water didn't get you some fish I would try a spinner bait. I'm sitting at about 55 degrees here. Wore them slap out on a cheap old red crank bait last weekend.

I am so jealous. The only thing I'm wearing out is the soles of my shoes, walking banks to check the ice

Lol. I feel your pain man. This winter about made me go crazy. I only got out maybe four times this winter. I'm more of a 2-3 times a week kind of guy. The upshot though, good times are on their way soon!!!

Yeah, I like to get out at least 3 times a week, which was pretty easy last year. Work was slow so as long as we had 40 hours in, we had 3 day weekends.

I've always had really good luck around opener with tiny buzzbaits, like the Strike King Mini Pro Buzz.
Seriously, one of my all time favorite baits for lakes, rivers, LMB, or SMB. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...006000_100-6-0 |

I have seen a tough bite as well, so far the only thing that has worked for me has been live minnows, live worms, and a few small shallow cranks.
