I am the same as most of the others here. I use braid ( Power Pro 65lb) on my C-rig. I throw it on a Falcon Carolina Lizard Dragger Rod. I use 15-20lb. Seaguar Flourocarbon Leader. Leader length depends on many variables such as bottom composition or aggressiveness of the fish. Many times I will use a 36- 48 inch leader, but if fish are aggressive I will shorten it down to 24". Very rarely any shorter. I don't believe that the bait is as important as the presentation. For instance, you pull, pull, feel nothing....then you feel something, anything different (could be grandma's panties for all I know)...stop the retrieve....give it a bit of time in the spot to get bit. Many people I see that fish this fish it way too fast. It is classified as a searching bait, but it is only a searching bait until you find the right cover, then stop it and you should expect to get bit. Hold on, and remember precisely where that cast was and duplicate it again. You will see what schooling fish are all about. Goood Luck in your pursuit. I am a big Proponent of the C-rig and will help any way I can

I might have been doing it wrong, but the way I understood it was that the bead goes inbetween the swivel and the sliding weight. It's done to create sound.

I don't use a snap, I use a #7 black barrel swivel. Hope it helps you.
