Default Motorguide Lift Assist

A man in Va. has come up with a lift assist for MG trolling Motors. Looks great. They come in stainles steel ($119.99) or black ($59.99). I'm thinking I might place an order. Heres a few pictures.

looks good ron. but i gotta ask. doesn't this look like a couple of "shocks" bolted on a mount? and if it is, i HTINK you could go to a shop and have one made.

Yea John, I think it is a couple of those gas shocks, but you get 2 of those all the hardware, directions and location where to mount for 60 bucks. I don't think a shop will do it for that. I may be wrong.

If you get one let us (ME) know how it works. I was thinking of purchasing a Fortrex because I am getting tired of lifting my monster MinnKota 101. That piston would be a HECK of a better price.

I'll look for them, I will be there Saturday. I sent a PM with my cell #, if you're there Saturday, give me a hollar. As it's a bolt on, I'm hoping (figure) it would work on either. But that's an ASSumption...

that is what i mean. so if oyu were to go to an automotive parts store and get the shocks, surely you can get the hardware online right? i am asking because i LOVE this idea, but i am wondering if one could do this cheaper (?).

the shocks look like the ones you get for the rear hatch/front hood or trunk lid on a car or suv. am i right? if not, ok. just trying to save us a few more bucks if we could do it ourselves. if not, cool.

HTIS is yet ANOTHER reason i love it here. things like this is awesum. SHARING ideas and stuff.
