Default non fishing, well fishin related

in a pond were i fish, they have a new guest, brand new for this year, a muskrat, and well it is kinda used to people, so encounters happen alot, i was fishing and apparently it was trying to come up the bank and my rod tip hit it, them things growl!!! it attacked my rod and swam down a bit and then crawled on the shore, lol i thought it was comming back for round 2. anyway with all the kids running around, do you think this could pose a threat, or is because i hit it. i want to tell the owners, but i dont wanna sound dumb.

Never heard of a muskrat attacking anyone before. They usually want left be. I'm sure he will avoid anyone who ventures close by. But if it acts threatening again, I would let the property owners know. They might not want it there to begin with.

Generally when animals like that act aggresive or at least, not afraid of people it means something is wrong with them. I would be afraid it might be rabid.

lol love is the last thing on its mind, do they pose any ecological thread, say eating fish or anything like a beaver woudl do, i doubt it can build a dam, but like pile brush, burrow and make the banks soft,

X2 they'll drain a pond if they're in it long enough and destroy the shoreline with their tunnels and eating all the vegetation from the shoreline.
