Default Fishing the hot side

Heading down to the nuclear cesspool tomorrow to fish with the guys and try to claim the first of many for 2009 . Weather sucks and the fish are pre and post spawn. Should be a good time. And while I'm fishing 60-65 degree water BassAddict will be trying his luck on the other half of the lake in the 45 degree water in the same miserable weather. I'm going to try and meet up with him after and compare notes.

Didn't see any spawning fish even though the first of the three ponds (actually large feeder creeks that are dammed up and then connected by a channel/canal) was 70 degrees. The second pond was in the low 60's to low 50's. Never went to the 3rd pond. Didn't have a good day. Only caught one fish, 1 lb 10 oz, on one of my 4" GP/Chart Core Flipping tubes. My partner caught two on a Baby Brush Hog and lost one kicker. I didn't take any photos because it was just too cold. We had sleet falling for a short period of time and when you're running I found out in hurts getting hit by the ice particles. Who would have thought??? It rained for most of the day too. Just plain nasty weather.
Others in the club did well. One member caught a dozen fish throwing a RICO in 60 degree water. Most found fish on points and used plastics too. I think the best bag was around 10lbs with a few more with 7 and 8 lbs.

On the cold side I checked to see how BA did but didn't see him when they were passing out the checks. Winning weight there was 16 lbs +. BassAddict can expand on how his day went.

We were sposed to have high 40's or low 50's but I doubt it got out of the 30's today. The wind and rain didn't help. Just nasty weather and I'm still cold from being out in it all day. And guess what we're getting more tomorrow

For once, we've got decent weather. It got to almost 50 yesterday, sunny, and no wind. It felt like it was 60. I was outside all day either working in the yard or fishing. And most of the day I had on a T-shirt!

Today's high is 55. Tomarrow 58, and tuesday 62! I can't wait. sunny or party cloudy every day.

I guess I missed this earlier. We didn't set the lake on fire but we did catch 4 fish for 6.44 lbs. Finished 27th out of 76 teams. The male bass are moving to the back of the coves it seems. We caught all our fish on suspending jerkbaits. Water temp was between 46-48. Rained most of the day and was cold. Was actually better than Friday though. It snowed most of the day with some sleet mixed in. That was MISERABLE!!!! Remind me not to fish in that again!!!

3D... guess you should have fished the COLD side!!!

we fished the hot side for the first time in feb. our club had a tourney there. it was awesome fishing 68 degree water in sub freezing temps. we caught somewhere around 130 fish in three days. biggest of the event went 3.75. seems like alot of fish in the lake but not alot of big fish. locals say they have seen the water 102 degrees in the summer!
