Default Stren Potomac

Anybody coming up to play on the river?

I'm kinda in limbo right now. They'll give me a call to confirm my spot but were pretty sure I'm in.

I'd love to do the angler side but risk/reward is too much. So I'll do the co-angler and hope that my partners give me an opportunity to put 5 in the boat each day. I've put 9lbs + in the boat in 12 of the last 14 times on the water and I'm 5 for 5 this year including a 14 and 15lb bag.

You have anyone fishing it? I'll keep an eye out for your logo.

just focus on fishing clean. if you are able to minimize your mistakes then that is about all you can do from the back of the boat. best of luck.

FLW Stren Series Northern Division on the Potomac River on June 25-27th

C-rig
Fished beside B. Lane in the grass two years ago on the third day. My partner for that day ended up 3rd. I lost one fish each day and missed a check so I understand the importance of making the most of my chances. I've made some changes since then with my gear and line and hopefully the fishing gods are with me this year.

ABA (BASS), FLW, LAPR, Championship Teams, Fisher of Men, Castaway (James River) are all organizations that have tournaments. Pick up a copy of Woods & Waters and check out the results.

Fish as a co-angler in one of the bigger series first. For $100-125 you can get to fish a local body of water. Fish for 8 hours in a tournament and possibly win a little. Hopefully you get someone with knowledge of the water. And is willing to share a little with you (and most do but not all). If you fish a Teams or LAPR and you aren't ready to put a good bag of fish in the boat then you will "get my butt handed to me".

I've learned quite a bit even when I haven't earned a check. Since my last big tournament as a co-angler I've improved my consistancy on the river dramatically. I was tempted to fish this one as a pro but the only thing holding me back is $$.

Stren is $825 for three days. $25K is 1st place plus Ranger boat bonus (another $25K). BFL is $200 for one day. Full field will pay $6K plus $2K Ranger bonus.

June 20th there is a BFL on the James River.

Good luck 3D! I fished a BFL on the James a while back as a co-angler and was fortunate to make a check. My boater didn't know anything about the James. He mainly wanted to fish some stuff he practiced and only hit a couple of my spots. I tried to help him all I could but he wouldn't listen. He blanked that day. At the end of the day I took him to my best spot and told him to throw a white spinnerbait along the laydowns. He decided to keep throwing that 7" Culprit worm so I threw the blade and caught a 2 1/2 lber. I felt bad for him that day because he was a nice guy!

Yeah, sometimes they won't take any advice and it ends up hurting you. I've been lucky for the most part and have fished with guys who have had good practices and areas to fish or who have actually asked me for help.

We'll see what happens.

Took the Major 18+ to win the two day club tourne on the Chick Lake and River over the weekend. He did better on the lake but missed a lot of topwater bites and some good fish.

I just got confirmed on the boater side 3d, wish I would have known earlier we could have locked each other in. Look for the Flip Clip Logo on the truck and boat, I'll comp you a set. Fished the BFL there on Saturday, finished 13th with 5 fish, 16-6. 25 lbs won it, weights dropped off pretty quick after 1st. Can you imagine bringing 5- 5lbers to the scale? Good Luck, maybe we'll draw each other!

I'll be looking for you. Keep an eye out for my avatar/company logo. I heard about the big bag. Had a team tournament two weeks ago and weighed 13 but found out that two 5's and a 6 were caught out of the spots we fished the day before and I lost a 4. Our biggest was over 4 so 23 to 25lbs is always possible. Good luck to you.

nice fish, I was thinking of heading out this weekend around the WW bridge or maybe the occoquan. Any tips for either. Ive fished the Occ once and the furthest up river ive been is the southern point of smoots bay. Want to try to find some new water on this river to fish. Thanks.

Sunday could have been LAPR or another series. Sat was the final day for Stren and they had the FLW College Tournament also. I believe an ABA on Sat. Sounds like you found some quality fish.
