Default TM Battery...

Hey guys... got a question for ya.
Took the wife out to Lake Worth today in the Bass Hunter plastic boat. Had the trolling peaked and tweaked for this trip. By the end of the day, it was dead as a door nail. Would barely spin the prop on high. Question is, seeing as how we drained it completely, is it now toast? Did we damage it somehow by discharging it so much?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Recharging it at 2 amps now. Should I be charging it higher or lower?

If it's a deep cycle battery, it's probably ok. I'd make sure it's full of distilled water, and put it on a slow charge, like you're doing. Should be all right.

Is it a wet cell? If so, it sounds like it's low on (distilled) water. If it was and it's fully discharged and you're trying to charge it with low water - it may be beyond saving - one reason I've eliminated wet cell batteries on my boat. Charging a wet cell will also evaportate water from the battery and you really need to stay on top of keeping the cells topped off. Even one cell low on water can reduce the ability of the battery to return to full charge. You can also get a hydrometer (auto supply) and check each cell (wet cell, sealed battery you can't check) and verify if you have a bad cell or two.

Awesome! Thanks for the great info guys. I'll check it to see if it's a wet cell or a AGM. Can't remember off the top of my head. Either way, I greatly appreciate the info. I agree, I think we should have gotten more energy out of that battery. We were only using a MK Endura 40. Should have lasted a lot longer than what it did. Granted we were fighting a strong current all day, but still...
