Default Drop shoting for winter bass?

Has anyone ever tried drop shoting for bass through the ice? I would think it would work but I've never tried it. What do you think about it and that size and types of baits would you use?

no drop shotting is only a recent techique it has been 15 years since i fished in a hole. i used a windless tip up with a hopkins spoon or a rattle trap.

tried it a few times.never caught anything on it.i don't use tipups.i have an arsenal of ice rods i use for jigging.mostly kastmasters, swedish pimples, rapala jigging minnows..small grubs..
i'll use them on the boat sometimes when theres no ice and it's very cold water.not exactly a popular winter bass tactic.

I'd say if you know the exact spot of where a fish hole might be, or some place that bass frequently visit on the lake, make a hole and jig. Try tipping the jig with a minnow or something...

drill about a hundred holes.(i get about 40 holes on a tank of gas).i happen to know this particular lake very well,i know there is a stump field along a creek channel in 18-23 ft of water.but it takes 100 holes or so to line those stumps up.the bass just hang on these stumps.
once you catch one,you can pull a bunch out of that same hole.
yeah,we ice fish...but it almost saves our sanity in the winter.
in about a month this board should start heating up,when everybody is full tilt cabin fever.tempers will flare...lmao!
our ice is gone.we only got 3 days to ice fish.now i can use the boat again.hope i can get on the big basses soon.
