Default Reel gear ratio

Just curious, does anyone here use a 7.1 gear ratio for spinnerbaits. I know they are primarily for plastics, jigs, and other bottom contact baits.

i don't. i use a 6:2.1 or 5:2.1. the 7:2.1 is really too fast in my opion.

I prefer a 6.3:1 but a faster reel would work, especially if you like burning a spinnerbait above grass. The 6.3:1 is a better all around ratio, but if it's early spring any you'll be burning a spinnerbait the better part of the day, the 7.1:1 would be less tiring.

I like a reel with a gr in the 6's for spinnerbaits. I feel like it's fast enough and it has a little more torque so it doesn't take as much effort to retrieve as a 7.

I'm using a 6.4:1 reel for my spinnerbait needs. A lower ratio works very well too. But I thing somewhere between 6.0:1 and 6.4:1 is about right.

E7 High ratios (W/ IPT Inches per turn to match) on burning the top, E5s on the bottom, and everything else between.
