Default Swim Senkos

Well, I picked-up a few packs of these last night and was curious as to the use of them. They are actually not 'Senko' baits, but rather Cabela's Aqualglow Swimmin' Sticks. I bought these because: 1) They're cheaper than Gary's baits, 2) They were 35% off, and, 3) I liked the color selection they had.
  • What size hook should I use with the 5" baits?
  • Do I swim this bait or flutter-twitch it like a Senko?

I'd say 4/0
Swim, or whatever...

don't tell people!

No, just tired. I knew I should have eaten enough candy to get a sugar buzz.

LL, I got the swimming senko kit and here is what Mr. Yamamoto does: Heavy baitcaster w/16 -20lb fluorocarbon (sounds like a little much to me), and a big heavy 5/0 hook. Swim it along.... steadily... in shallow water from one to a few feet deep. If it twists, swim slower (you can never go too slowly)...

Screw-in Sinker rig: same 5/0 hook with a 1/4oz works well, but try lighter or heavier... Keep it moving along... "In deeper water, stop and let it sink every so often to keep it near the bottom."

Flipping Rig: 3/8 oz sinker to flip or drop into cover. You want to use a heavy sinker to get the tail to vibrate fast in a short distance. Oh, and try a straight-shank 5/0 hook.

Please remember, this is just a few main points from the box. Hope it helps!

I Like To Do Both If I Have A Creek Channel Or Just Fishin Cover If In A Channel I Swim It By The Points The Good Part Is If You Kill The Swimming Action It Falls Just Like The Senko. In Cover I Fish It Like A Regular Senko But The Advantage Is When You Lift You Rod Tip It Seems Like It Is Swimming Away This Is When I Get Most Of My Strikes. I Use A 3/0 To A 4/0 On A 7 Foot Mh Rod And 12lb Line Floro Is Best.
