Default Sweet Beaver

Anyone ever try a Riverside grub that is like a Sweet Beaver that has a paddle tail that you can seperate. I caught a couple of good bass on this and it looks alot like a Sweet Beaver type bait.

PS. What makes these baits so hot right now.

its kinda a combo of some baits like a reeper and a few others
what makes them popular is some guy on tv fishing with them or someone winning a tournament
and then it trickles down to our level and we start to use them, the bass havent seen them before and arent' leary of biting on them .......yet :

I have only used the origianl sweet beavers, and they are very good at catching fish. I usually pitch them, but lately with the water temp rising, they have proved to be KILLERS on C-Rigs.

I know this looks nothing like a sweet beaver, but these have worked really well for me the last few weeks.

Especially in the edge of grass, or in heavy cover.

It's a YUM Wooly Hawg Tail. My favorite and most productive color so far is the Dark Grasshopper.

melon seed wooley hawg tail has caught quite a few muddy water fish for me. the sweet beaver is kinda flat. and the fall is very slow and very good.

Tequila, try the YUM Wooley CRAW
It looks a little more like the Sweet Beaver. Oh by the way I just got part of my order from Ghost Baits, so I'll let you know after prefising tommorrow and the tourney saturday if they were good.

Is the sweet beaver really as good as everyone is saying, or is it hype from the marketing? I saw a ton of them in a local gas station yesterday, decided to pass on them for the time being.

Man, the sweet beavers aren't any good. Been using these baits for appx. 1 year. Haven't caught many bass at all while using these baits. The only colors that even look half way like a bass would take are:
Well I can't think of any right off hand.
Just make sure that the California, Big Texan,or Crawfish red aren't on your lists, they won't catch nothin'

I don't know why they haven't been producing for you 30, but I've caught bass when nothing else would produce just after a cold front this week. I've fished them rigged weedless/weightless and they've produced and I've fished them on a lead head jig and they've produced. The lake conditions where I fish haven't been right for C-rigging or else I'd be trying that too. Clear water, muddy water, running water, it doesn't matter. I've caught fish anywhere there's water with this wonderful bait. Mossy Mud is my color of choice. I also just received a sample pack from Ghost Baits, so next time out on the lake (possibly tomorrow or Wednesday), I'll give the handpours a try.
