question for kevin or whomever it relates to.
i know kevin is really, really busy but i am jsut wondering if there is some way to stop these bots or whoever from showing up as they register? can kevin delete these these people? i mean even AFTER they have signed up and all. jsut wondering. we used to not even SEE these people. i know the gang is as tired of seeing this as much as i am. jsut wondering if there is a ways to stop us form seeing them as they try to get on.

Could we have a temporary moratorium on new members if other steps cant solve the problem?

Didn't Kevin say, the last time concerning this issue, say that all new "members" need to be approved prior to being allowed to post? I see the "handles" of the newly registered at the bottom of the page, but have not seen any postings by them. It seems that the approval process is keeping them from at least posting the anoying posts we all hate. It would seem the approval process is keeping them from screwing up the forums, at least I haven't seen any Chineese lately.

It looks like the majority of them are registering. I think it must let them create a screen name that shows up but they never actually get past the registration questions.

that's what i mean, i see them register, then see that they are still on the list. i was wondering if maybe..by the crazy handle they put up or whatever...they can be ereased from the list. there has to be a way ot keep them off ? i dunno. there seems to be more of this lately. kevin did an outstanding job of making it harder, i jsut wish we didn't have to see them AT ALL.

How about a 5 post minimum post count before you can register?

I'm not really sure if I understand the challenge folks but if you allow anyone and everyone five posts before they even have to register that means the BOB and BOB show advocates get 5 posts before you can even stop them from doing anything.
Defeats the whole purpose....doesn't stop the malicious postings. Some days there are 20+ of these morons registering...that means 100 posts before any action is taken, per day. I really think Kevin's done what needs to be done. They can't register so they can't post. Showing them at the bottom of the page maybe annoying but it beats them posting. When a site owner sells advertising on their site, the advertisers first questions are, how many members and how much traffic. So allowing them to register is actually a good thing for Kevin and maybe even the site.

Zing, right over the head.
Earth to Joedog, you must be REGISTERED before you can post. Anthony's remedy was a joke. If you are not already registerd then you can't post - if you cannot post then you can't register. The membership is effectively closed to any newbies. Now I'm confused. |

Remember, just because they are knocking on the door, Kevin has done some upgrades that are still keeping them from getting in. That's good, we are still safe in our little haven and some of the good guys are getting through. It's all good, just look at all those little names at the bottom as applicants, not necessarilly members, and not all that apply get admitted. My meds are working wonders............................

Ahhhh Tequilla. I have become reaquainted with the stuff after avoiding it like the plague for over 30 years.
Here ya go - can you guess what a single bottle of this costs? Let me tell you it's pretty exclusive (no fair looking it up). It's 100% aguave, aged a year in oak barrels, re-distilled then aged again in oak Burgundy wine barrels........ Maybe Bill Gates drinks this, I know I can only dream......... |

Patron Silver is my favorite tequila, love that stuff. Never had the Gran Patron, for obvious reasons.
As far as the spammers, I think we're just going to have to get used to seeing their names at the bottom, unless Kevin completely changes the way the registration is set up. They aren't getting through and posting, that's the main thing.
