Senkos for Largies

Will senkos work on Large mouth bass? If so what size, what hook, and what rigging technique should I use?

Yes, I like using the 5", they work pretty good.

stevomac59-Will senkos work on Large mouth bass? idk why but that sentence made me laugh. Like will it work, as if its a part for a car or sumpthin senkos are best known as one of the best bass catchers. i like black with blue flake and watermelon with red flake and 5inch too. hope that helps

Color depends on your water color. clear water, go with natural colors. stain water go with browns, blacks, darker reds, muddy go with bright like chartreuse, or bright green. I use 4 1/4" in BPS brand (they have weird sizes though.) But I'd suggest for you 5" I use smaller cause non of my bass are really big.

I use Wave Worm Tiki Sticks, my favorite colors are watermelon/red flake and green pumpkin. I fish them weightless on 6'6''mh baitcasting gear loaded with 14lb Vanish fluorocarbon. I use a 3/0-4/0 Mustad Ultra Point Mega Bite Hook. Go find some shoreline cover and start casting. These baits work great around the spring, fish them around cover, preferably where theres a dropoff near the spawning sites. Thats where the bigger females will stage for pre-spawn and go after they are done. This bait is pretty hard to cast on really windy days, so its best on days with little wind. Just cast to the cover and let the bait free fall and deadstick for 10 seconds-2 minutes, the fussier the bass, the longer the pause. You really have to pay attention to your line for strikes, alot of the time you will see your line jump or go to pick up the bait after deadsticking and there is weight. Always assume these are fish, and set away. Hope this helps! These are my go-to baits BTW lol!

You know, like everyone says about almost everything, it's all about personal preference or what you feel confident with. its true that most people use natural colors, but when I went to my bass pro, the two BPS brand ones they were out of were bubblegum(bright pink) and Candy Corn (light red and orange swirl)

Yes, but i like the YUM dinger alot better, I fish it texas rigged with a 1/4oz weight and a 4/0 hook. Sometimes I fish them on my shakey heads I make.

Bubblegum is actually a natural color, in muddy water it will look a lot like an Earthworm.

What senko would anybody use over the Gary Yamamoto? It could have been the first one made.......I've always fished them on a regular worm hook (weedless), with no weights. They usually weigh a good bit, so I'll usually fish them off my only baitcaster with 12lb. line. I never use them first, but always use them when nothing else is working.

TikiStiks! I normally use senkos first and with a tiny splitshot to get them down a bit faster, but thats just personal preferance.

I fish my 5" Senkos on a weightless Gamakatsu wide-gap 4/0 or 5/0 hook. I've had the most success with Watermelon and Watrmelon w/Red Flake. I've some nice-sized bass by casting the Senko out over water in the range of 6' - 15' deep; over some type of bottom structure has been best. Then let it float its way down....sometimes I give it a little twitch while it's on its descent. Also - I've tried both "regular" and "wacky." I've had the best luck fishing it "regular" - and I either leave the hook exposed up against the Senko body, or lightly "skin-hook" the Senko.

That's a really good point that I would have never thought of... I don't fish a lot of muddy water so I wouldn't know anyways. I'll stick with pumpkinseed.
