Default Minnkota Maxxum 74 problems

2 problems i've come across with the maxxum74 tm's.
#1:the switch on the side of the foot pedal goes bad.i usually carry a spare.you can buy a switch from ace hardware(around$10.00)it's the same switch but cheaper than from minnkota.i've replaced 2 on mine already and i know Billy had to replace his.the problem seems to be caused by running the tm in cruise on full for extended periods.it's a simple fix.you'll have to remove the bottom plate and then theres a little plate covering the connections on the switch.the switch pops out very easy.
#2:and this one kind of drove me crazy.luckily i have a spare parts maxxum 74 laying around.
i had a problem with the motor coming on by itself(with the switch on intermittent).yoy may hear a buzz and/or clicking coming from the motor and/or foot pedal.the problem was in the switch that you step on(round button, has "MINN" on it.there's a little rubber cover over the switch button(underneath round "MINN" button).that little rubber cover gets a hole worn in it after alot of use.water gets down into the switch and it's shot.you'll have to replace the switch.it's an easy fix,2 screws hold it in and 2 screws hold the wires on.
