Default Carrying tackle box onto plane.

To those who have had experience bringing fishing stuff with you, can you bring a tackle box with hooks and pliers onto a plane?

Thanks.

Most guys I know that have travelled for fishing put the tackle boxes in a regular suit case and locked them up. Then check them in baggage. The best deal is the soft sided tackle bags and plano style trays that retain everything even if the bag gets turned upside down.

I fly at least once a month for work and would only carry on my reels (like the link said). I would use the tackle trays and put them in a "normal" bag. I would not check my tackle bag. That would tend to come up missing more than a normal black bag.

As for rods, I would buy a 4" dia PVC pipe and cap it, attach a bag tag and call it good. Much cheaper than a rod box.

Oh, right now on NWA if you check a bag bring an extra $15 for one and $25 for two....
