Default Trolling motor, good deal?

Recently purchased a 11" Coleman Crawdad w/ 5hp motor, but I'm also looking to purchase a trolling motor. I came across this, and was wondering if this is a good deal?

I am selling my 48lb thrust MG trolling motor. In great condition. New Switch on the pedal and a 3-bladed prop. 160$ Shipped

Don't I need a battery also? And what's the thing on the left?

The thing on your left, is the mounting bracket. Yes it is a good deal, new Pro Series go for 450$ for that size, which is actually a 46 now? I like mine, and it came on my boat. I do however want to upgrade it to a 80lb thrust, just because I fihs a lot of high winds places. Defintley jump on it. Also you will need a 12v battery, I reccomend Everstart, Interstate or if ya can afford them, I hear Cabelas AGM Battery is amazing.

they wacked something the arms are bent outward on the mount-i bent mine also.. wonder why they took it apart? -something not easily done-look carefully on the front of the mout the too lil arms near the shaft hole see if eith is missing a piece.. look for a crack-even hair line- in the front -shaft housing area- this can NOT be welded or fixed as the entire area is made from cast steel..

Oh as far as it being bent, thats impossible as its a breakaway mount. The
arms are slightly bowed as it comes that way stock. The front piece cannont
be welded as it is plastic, The breakaway mount is held in place by a pin on
the bottom and a locking arm at the top. It unscrews in about 5 sec and the
pin slides right out.. a lot like the pin that you put in to lock the
trailer ball. As far as the mount being too near the shaft... its off the
mount I have no Idea how one would figure that. I took it apart because I
had a transducer on it. Seeing I did not want to induce a kinked wire I did
it the easy way, pull the pin, unscrew the arm and route the transducer wire
so it would be in place like it was when mounted.
Hope that helps. Feel free to call if you have any questions
