Default Trolling Motor

Alright fellas, I got my giffy from cashing in my airline miles to BPS. I have read good reports on the BPS Prowler #30/30" shaft. Anyone out there have one? I will be using it for my 12' luminum. The other option for $15 more is the Minn Kota Endura 30/30. So what do you think?

I have a Endura 40# on my 8' bass hunter style boat and it does o.k. but I would really like to have a 50# or 55# on it.
I would get the biggest one you can afford. a 30# on a 12' boat might suck if you got in any wind or on a creek with current.

Rant on - I think I am going to order the Endura from Tackle Warehouse with a giffy I got from the wife. This is what makes me sick about BPS, I put 2 reels in the shopping cart and the S & H is $20. Are you kiddin' me!? I guess I will just have to drive up there and meet up with 601Boy so he can talk sense in to me when I go a couple 100 over my giffy. I guess I should call and make sure they have them in stock first though. That would really fuel the fire. - Rant off

I see your point Chief. I used to have a #30 Motorguide that bit the dust a few years ago and it always did the job for me. It is a narrow beam boat and very unmanageable for me in the wind anyways, so I seldom get on any big water when the wind picks up. I just want something to get buy with for right now.

I've done that before. I would go with a 45, which is getting to be about as big as you can have without looking at 24 v. A 30 will work though, and I believe they are normally lighter at the motor...if that matters, I'm not sure. If you can find one with a metal transom bracket, it will last longer, but they might not offer the metal brackets except as an after market part now.

You can get by with either, but the 45 will help you every now and then.

Not in the market for that yet MB. But I did order the Endura 30 a little while ago. It should be here in 4-5 days.
