Default what am i doing wrong????

last night i was at a lake fishing off the dam with a texas rigged gulp worm with a stop and go retrieve and i was getting short quick strikes but they werent on long enough to set the hook because i missed every time they were nice hits but extremely quick. was it the way i was fishing, should i try a different retrieve use bigger hooke or was it just the fish that night?

i'd say you were getting those pesky bluegill bites, that fool ya...next time ya feel a bite like that let them take it and see if they run with it, it won't cost ya a dime to set the hook, and hey, if theres no bass on yer hook, we won't laugh at ya

tried it today with a 5 inch tiki stick and got about a 3 pounder up to shore but he somehow slipped off my hook .......guess thats what i get for using an old cheap dull hook but thanks guys when i get some new hooks ill be sure to catch him againn

Sharpen your hooks on a rock if you have to, but sharpen them until you get some new hooks.

Several years ago I fish the Hopatcong lake in New Jersey at night and was experiencing the same thing. Being not new to dunking a worm I was very agitated as to why I couldnt sink a hook. Finally after several hours of some VERY hard hits finally got the hook in a very surprised WHITE BASS. Surprised because when I set on him he did a very nice aerial display of a flying fish. LOL Could possibly be the fact that your getting bit by something other than a lrg or smallmoth bass.
