Default Mariner 150 Year?

I have a 85 Venture with a mariner 150 I am trying to figure out what year my motor is. I have a feeling that the year is in the Vin# but i dont know which # to look at. Any help would be great thanks

it SHOULD be on the vin. just have to call mariner and they can tell you what year it is.

Like said, should be on tha motor paper work. If not, there is a build date stamped on tha motor. Port side, bottom of number 2 clyinder on tha block half where tha case half splits. Kinda behind tha advance timing arm........T

you don't have to title your motor, her in sc we do, plus it makes it easy to keep up with that kind of details to.

PS, I fished Shelby lake in gulf shores last week. Didnt do ****. But its a pretty lake. Seemed pretty salty.

Thanks alot guys I have figured out it is a 87. I have fished lake shelby a couple of times and also have not done very good I think the key is to find the spring that feeds it.But you are right very Brakish might try it again tomorrow Thanks everybody

wtl, be careful on shelby pal. if ya use anything white...it'll turn kinda yellowish and brown. there is a lot of iron in that body of water. stains EVERYTHING! what to use? i heard yellow sally's, which i take as spinners, lol. black i think as well. been a LONG time since i was there. fished it once, that was enough for me, hahaha. didn't do SQUAT.
