Default How to hook a crawdad and

where do I hook him? And with what kind of hook? I would appreciate any info. Thank you in advance. kitty

Live? or artificial?? also if live, do you want it to stay alive and moving at the end? If so then a 2/0 to 4/0 baitholder would work good, depending on size. Start under the 2nd segment on the tail portion, at the center of the back. go up and out the union behing the main segment and the tail.

On live, I usually go with a circle hook. A 2 works fine. I actually hook them through the front. I bring it through the nose half way between the edge of the nose and the eyes. If you go to far, they die instantly and don't do much good. I prefer to hook them through the front because they can still swim in a normal fashion.

I agree with Cassidyta. I prefer a Gamkatsu Finesse Wide Gap hook but the rigging is the same. Straight up through the "beak" that protrudes between the eyes.
