Well, ask 1FastLazer. He seems to be a pretty sharp guy.

I own several 4600C3's and several 4600C4's. The C3's are 5;1 and the C4's are 6;1. Good choice, they last forever.

4600 C3 reels are a great value and can hold alot of line. Perfect first baitcaster.

Totally agree !!! I like the old curado BSF, heck, all of the old onees... The new ones (D series) are great too !! But if you want a round one, I like the Cardiff 200 series.

Idk if u have used baitcasters before or not. Im guessing so but im not sure. If u are learning id say get the cabelas prodigy. Its cheap and great to learn with. Cabelas has some way of keeping the spool rpm's down just after the lure leaves the boat. It does cast pretty far tho. I was supprised but that is just a suggestion. When u start out with a fast reel that cast long it gets frusterating. Do what u want tho lol i think ur dad must be a pretty good angler from the way it sounds. lol have fun and good luck

My dad taught me how to throw the baitcasters since I was very young about 6 or 8. I am thinking of getting a 4600 or a cardiff. My dad says they are both good reels.

What is the rell gonna be used for? I buy specific equipment for specifics techniques. If it's pitching Flipping reel, well ask you rdad which one to buy, because I already told him. If it's for other uses, then most any good brand name reel will work. If you like the 4600 then have him buy that, however might I suggest a Shimaon Calais, especially since he's buying rotflmao.

Seriously, I respect anyone that can cast a baitcaster! I have and Abu Ambassador and a Shimano C300. I can't use either one. I have to stick to using my Mitchell spinning reels. I say this knowing what little respect I garner here has just diminished to disgust!

Default I used both of them yesterday

Being the first I bought and the one I purchased Friday. The old has been kept up and still works as good as it did the day I bought it.

All I have to say is, Shimano reels aren't pieces of crap; all my reels are Shimano, and I absolutely love them.

Bass Kicker, obviously, you don't like Shimano, but why do you always have to put them down !! Leave those comments at home ! No one asked which reels are crap and which ones aren't.

As far as lasting "forever," I'm not sure if any reel lasts "forever,'' but any reel will last a long period of time if maintained properly, regardless of brand. Good luck with whichever reel you decide to purchase BigBass10.
