Default My first lunker :)

Well guys, all i can say is THANKS. All the tips i have received here for pond fishing have paid off. I learned how to fish around slop, and what big lunkers love. I headed over to a local pond and all the ponds were covered in weeds!
Anyways, i tied on a trick worm and ran it over the slop, dropping it into holes. I thought i had a snag but i set the hook anyways just in case....guess it paid off. After about 15 minutes of fighting the beast, i got it in close enough to lip....after weighing it and measuring, this thing was.............

8 POUNDS 20"

Not too bad for my 6th bass?
Even better for an upstate New York pond?
Thanks for all your help guys

(She was released to be caught again)

I had one come off two weeks ago at a tourney. I only had one in the livewell heading back to the weigh-in. I was about 40 yards from the ramp and I tossed my yo-zuri rattl'n vibe along some lillys and this thing loaded up on it! She came up and rolled and my partner came unglued and was falling down to ge the net, the next two things that happend were unbelievable.
1st - everyone was at the ramp saw me hang into her and they were in shock.
2nd - she spit that lure out bigger than day. I did a back flop on the deck and got sick to my stomach. She wouldve went in the 7-9lb ballpark and I missed payday by less than a pound. Thats how my day went. I'm glad you landed yours.

I love that yo-zuri. It's a 5/8oz, so you can sling that thing a country mile and zip it in. And frankly IMO it outfishes the "rattle trap".

I just did a search for this Yoda Zurich lip-less life-less rattlin' jive talkin' hipster diving crankbait, I am going to buy several! They look like just what I need for an area I fish. I end up dragging leaves and weeds in on the lip of my Bandit crankbaits all the time. The bait you use look very life-like!
Thanks!

congrats on the big bass dude!!!

AS for the Ratlin Vibe "I think it is the best lipless crankbait ever made, I love it", and yes in more cases than not it does out fish the Rat-l-trap!!! Any color is a good color, but i like most of the silver and goldish colors...

Ten internal steel balls result in outstanding casting distance and also rattle and vibrate on the retrieve. Large holographic eyes and a detailed etched “skin” give the Rattl’n Vibe™ an incredibly lifelike appearance. The bait’s perfect balance allows it to be jigged vertically without planning to either side. The Rattl’n Vibe™ will dive to a depth of 20 feet and is very effective worked with a stop-go or steady retrieve

I purchased one today. I guess with these sinking crankbaits you have to get 'er started pretty quick to avoid snags?
I also picked up a Mira Vibe in Chartreuse and a Prial "first vibration 7.0".
They all seem to be in the same category.

The Yo-Zury's are good baits but I'm settled on a Lucky Craft LV & LVR's
Yes I have some Yo-Zury's in my box, and yes they have caught good fish.
No Rat-l-Traps in my box. Had about 30 or so, but then came the "new" baits.
Rat-l-Traps have gone to the unused junk yard !
Sorry Bill Lewis. No offense.

Gotta love the Yo-zuri's. They make one of the most productive poppers I have ever used. I hit a handful on it today as a matter of fact, until the thunderstorms ruined my day.

If you like throwing the lipless crank, take a look at these refurbed Rattlin Rapala's that TClark refinished.
