Revenge of the OLDEST sport fish in the world
Now you all hear the tales of the high flying/jumping asian carp but imagine a STURGEON jumping into your boat.
The Suwannee River sturgeon is more infamous than famous, because during spawning season these things jump. We're not talking sticking their heads up with a big splash, we're talking AIR BORN! Heck these things grow 6-8 feet long and can weight hundreds of pounds. In 2006, eight people were struck by the huge fish. Two others were hurt when they swerved to avoid a high-flying sturgeon and rammed a bridge piling. Injuries ranged from broken bones and cuts to coma. 2007 was another year of record breaking injuries, by mid 2007 four sturgeon had already landed INSIDE boats, knocking one lady unconscious and another got BODY SLAMED off her jet ski. Check the photos below....if there were that many jet-skis on my waters I'd probably be BODY SLAMMING A FEW TOO! The thing to me that is most amazing is that these things are bottom feeders from the ocean and they're NOT jumping to feed, they're spawning. Guess maybe that's how they get mates by showing who's the best JUMP....er. http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/popup?id=3374611 Everyone have the very best weekend you possible can! Oh, I'd like to introduce to you all Herman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWQg0...ture=fvwp&NR=1

I have fished the suwanee before and seen them jump. An amazing fish. Its like a cow falling in the water, huge noise. I can see how they could be potentially deadly if you drove on that river like a fool. Then again, even if not for the sturgeon, speeding around on the suwanee is tough cause the currents will swoop you around, theres lots of rocks and shoals and potentially could be some cypress logs.
