Default Kistler magnesium dock skipping special

Any one have this kistler rod? The model is MgDSS63S, it is no longer made and I found a place that has one left. Do you like it for what it's inteneded to do, skip soft plastics? On the stiff side?

I have the KDSSS63, maybe an older version? It is a little tip heave but that is great in this case and the blank is perfect for skipping docks. My problem with this is the reel seat or something makes this the least sensitive rod I own. Most all fish I caught of docks I never felt hit, I just saw the line moving. I was using 10# and 12# Fluoroclear so maybe not the most sensitive line, but still I couldn't feel anything.

I like the length and rod a lot and have even considered trying to rip off that reel seat and putting on a different one. If the newer ones have a different reel seat they would be great. Here's a picture of mine: (on the left)
