Default Spiral Wrapped Rods Debunked

Okay...I hope my jpegs are of high enough quality to be read, and that I got all of the arrows pointing the way I intended, and also that you take the time to try and really understand them before getting defensive (if you are a fan of spiral wrapped rods.)

My contention is that, while spiral wrapped rods do indeed have a couple of benefits, like reduced strain on the rod tip, and not having your rod flip over in a rod holder, the much touted claim of "reduced wrist fatigue" is BUNK!! The following drawings I threw together should help explain my points. If you have any constructive comments to add, please feel free. (Unprovable comments such as "my grandad used one for forty years, and he said it helped", or "nofear, you're a moron" will be summarily ignored. )

If you have trouble reading them (I made them fairly small), use CTRL + your mousewheel or your web-browsers zoom function.

Enjoy.

No fear, thanks!

Until you mentioned, I had never heard the claim of less fatigue as a result of the guides being wrapped spirally.

Any engineer or physicict worth their salt should arrive at your conclusion with little thought or minimal analysis. Thanks!

Actually, I made a slight goof in the third drawing. It should read "the force of the line is not above the rod axis, and causes a torque." I'll try to update the image tonight.

NoFear, you're a moron and you done, done it now! hahahahahaha Although I have no interest in a spiral wrapped rod unless it was for asthetic purposes. And I don't care if I am looking good or not hauling in a hog. But your theory makes a point, and well thought.
