Default Swimbait rods

Probably will buy a Okuma to start out with. Nice price, good reviews. I am looking for 1 to 6 oz. or a little less. Tell me why you like your swimbait rod.

I use my flippin stick for paddle tails. For any hard swimbaits, I use my musky rod. I don't fish them enough to need a dedicated set up... yet...

I'd check out the Shimano Crucial swimbait rods. They're 7'11" and I think they come in MH, H, and XH so you can choose which you need.

I actually use a BPS Nitro swimbait rod. Just like the feel of it. I had an Okuma I really liked until stepson#2 fell overboard with it. At least that was the story

I agree with Reb here. If you are not looking to spend a day doing nothing but swimbaits, then I suggest the Nitro. You won't break the bank on it, and it is a very dependable rod. I use one for frogs, but have no issues putting a swimbait on it.

As for me, I use a dobyn's 8' heavy swimbait rod. I feel that they are the best balanced and lightest 8 foot rods that I have thrown. I toss 5-8oz baits all day with less strain as on other baits.

Reb and cassidyta BPS has the Nitro on sale now. Would either of you know how much off I might get if I wait for their big sale?

Bob,

I don't remember what it was on the big sale. I think the combo I got was around $200 and I had the internet couplon for an extra $25 off.

Falcon Cara Reaction Swimbait -
CCB-8-173SW

Awesome rod! Just wish I would have more Swimbait friendly waters to use it in.
