VA got to be in there somewhere!!! Tidal rivers, smallmouth rivers, and some big lakes that all the big tours stop on every year.

We even have Snakeheads.

I know I am biased on this one, but I have to say of all the states I have fished in, CA is the one I have enjoyed the most.
I have fished in Arizona and there are some great spots, but they are few and far between. I guess 90 degrees in February will throw off my techniques.
I learned to fish in VA and believe it to be one of the best smallie places I have ever fished.
For top water opportunities no where that I have ever fished beat Florida.
Louisiana was a lot of fun, but those gators were prehistoric. I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of fishing time in TX but from what I hear, it ranks right up there.

That is going to depend completly on your determining criteria. If you are to weight the importance of smallmouth in this survey, California and Texas will top out cause Florida is without. For all around excellence, Alabama has at one time held the world record Smallie, Spot and has probably some of the best largemouth trophy fishing in the world at Gville.

Bleh, I'm bored.

Cali (hate you left coasters, lol)
Texas
Florida
Bama
Georgia (6 of the 7 species of bass, world record lmb)
Tennessee
Arizona
then a whole bunch like mizzou and south carolina.

um yeah California, Texas, and Florida have to be up there and then its a toss up. SC is a decent place to get started, but other than Santee it aint known for big bass. I mean the lake recoed on Murray is like 12lbs. Thats like a small one is california to some people.
