Default 12 inch worms

What is the correct size hook to use with these oversized worms?

Depending on the thickness of the worm, I'd say you would want to use a hook that will allow enough penetration area in between the hook and plastic, say a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook. I caught bass using a 2/0 EWG on a 10" curly tail just last weekend.

I use a 5/0 minimum for 10"-12" worms.

Another vote for a 5/0 or 6/0. I use a 5/0 the most.

Okay, guess I'm out numbered on this one, but I'll stick to my guns anyway. Heck, I've never even bought anything bigger than 4/0, and I rarely use them. Only on frogs or sluggo's do I go that big.

5/0 EWG. Nothing smaller, for sure.

First off I'll use a 5/0 99% of the time, just the size I like. Secondly, I honestly don't think a smaller hook on a big worm(which usually means long not FAT) would be fine. I wouldn't go down any smaller than a 3/0 EWG for it, but I think that would be just fine. The "thickness" of the bait should determine the hook size, not the "length" IMO.

I use a lot of 10-12" worms and use nothing less than a 5/0.
