Default Lead question

Now this is really for those who use leads.
I know many don't and as many do.

Every year when I go through the line buying dilemma I see the the Fluoro Leader sections under line.

I have always just used whatever Fluoro I got left, as long as strength is what I feel I need. If I have a spool with say 20 yards or even 20 feet left over after filling reel, it goes into the lead pile of line.
If I'm in the field and discover I want a lead but my lead spool (left overs) is empty or not long enough, I'll just cut the line off one of the setups I have along and use that.

So question for those who use leads, do you have special lead line like http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/P-Line_Shinsei_100_Pure_Fluorocarbon_Leader_27yds/descpage-PLSON.html or do you just use leftovers like me?

I thought you were going to make sinkers...

I use leftovers for leader material. Designated "leader" is usually a bit stiffer than you would spool on a reel and I don't see the need for freshwater fishing - except perhaps toothy fish like muskie or large pike. Salt water would be different, there I would go with a designated "leader" material.

Yeah, thought sinkers first. I don't use leaders. Maybe I should but never have. I might though because I am going to buy some 10lb braid for my spionning reel this year. In that case it probably will just be leftover spools.

Bob, I would suggest 20# braid, unless you're spooling an ultra light reel. 10# turned me off braid for a couple years because it is so thin (thread) I got frustrated with wind knots and loops at the rod tip. Later on I tried 20# and it was a big difference, now all my spinning reels are spooled with the 20# and it's great. The 10# also dug into the spool, 20# not so much.

My thoughts exactly.

I use a leader on some, not all and use floro line. Never bought specific leader material. No problem doing it the way I am.
