Benders,
No question...Spectra Power Pro...I think alot of the guys would agree....
I have seen 8 to 65 lb line. I use 20 lb pretty consistantly.
Remember, that is just MY opinion.

After MUCH tiral and error I have settled on 3 lines:

For worms, jigs, flipping and carolina rigs I use 50 lb PowerPro-has the diameter of 12 lb mono.

For weightless worms I use 12 lb Seguar Carbon Pro flourocarbon line.

For spinnerbaits and crankbaits I use 10 nd 12 lb green Trilene XL. 10 lb for lipped crankbaits, and 12 lb for the rest.

On my spinning rods I use 8 lb green Trilene XL.

i use different lines for different lures.

spinnerbaits-trilene xt in clear green 17 lb tst

i use xt on spinnerbaits be cause it is more abrasion-resistant,xl is smoothcasting.

topwaters- i use 20 lb fireline,it gets the job done, gives the lure more action
because lighter diameter lines usually give lures more action.

wheightless worms-exact same as reb,12 lb fluoro

crankbaits- 12 pound trilene xt again.the tuffer line allow me to pull off the weeds easier.

i am with reb also with spinning reels,i have problems on heavier line on spinning applications
make sure that when spool that the line is going around clockwise, dont spool it the oppisite way it was spooled on the package

kh,
ya may wanna scale down to 10-12-14 of that trilene for spinnerbait.
I use the same line all the time and you'll get better performance out of you reel and cast if you go a tad lighter.

Tubes, worms, wacky rigging in finesse conditions- 8 lb Sensation or 10 lb Vanish in the backwaters or clearer water

worms, jigs, flipping stuff-50 lb green power pro

spinnerbaits- 14 lb Trilene XT

Crankbaits- 12 lb Trilene XT, 14 lb around heavy cover

most topwater-12 or 14 lb XT

Frogs- 50 or 65 green power pro

I use a lot of XT as it controls easier than Vanish and its a lot more abrasion resistent than XL. Power pro for all my extra heavy cover and froggin.

Jigs-20lb Stren flouro.
Worms-17 lb Stren flouro.
Crankbaits-10lb Stren flouro.
Top water-Stren extra strength mono.
Reaction baits, I.E. spinnerbaits, rattle traps etc.. 14 LB Extra strength Stren. mono.May use copolymer vs.Stren extra Strength.
Good casting, high abrasion resistance.

I am like 86. P-LINE is they way to go as far as mono is considered. It has great knot strength, abraision resitant as all he@@, super sensitivity. It is a little more expensive but why chance loosing a fish to cheaper line. I fish in the nastiest water available to man and it just dont let me down. Only fraw back to P-Line is it does have some slight memory till it gets wet. But I always have and will use Reel Magic. Not only makes the line cast like new again but also lubes the reel. I have been using for years now and very very rarely have any problems with reel breakdown due to the fact that reel magic is that good. When I dint use reel magic I use to have the occasional premature breakdown of reel parts.
