Default Weather

I would love to be apart of the even and may end up driving over to be apart of some of the activities. However, I believe my little jon boat couldnt handle Kentucky Lake.

Also, I dont know what the water level is on Kentucky Lake, but Lake Barkley is flooded and they have shut down some of the marines around Barkley. I hope the weather cooperates for the event and the water starts to go down.

Have a good event and I may come to see what the weights are over on Kentucky.

Man...I am sooo bummed not to be able to attend this event. Heck, I'm not far away at all (Evansville, IN), but I only just found this website a couple of months ago, and didn't really have time to plan it as far as work or lodging goes. I would love to meet you guys and shoot the s**t with ya. I don't know, maybe I can manage to scratch out a Saturday or Sunday, but I can't really make any reservations, due to my tow vehicle being in the body shop and not knowing when it will be done. (I wasn't really that mad at the lady for side-swiping my truck when it happened...but I am now).

I know it's pretty early to be talking about next year...but I sure hope it is nearby again. I'd be one of those 4-day attendees.

Here is the link for the weather info through weather.com

Basicly, it is like every other day here. Chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Watch out for the high water. Lots of junk floating around out there. Have a safe trip to Kentucky!

The water on Kentucky is 4.7 feet higher than summer pool. Water is not usually at summer levels till now. This weekend should see some water dropping depending on how much rain we get. The current on Kentucky is really rolling according to reports.

mississippie,

just get out the map and any where theres a old channel take it to the back of a cut, those fish will either be in front of buck brush or along the edges where its thinner water...sounds easy right? Once you get there you'll see theres a LOT of brush, if the waters up. Also with this water level up and debris on the main lake, going across the lake you'll be in 15-20 feet of water and dont have to worry about coming up on thin water...just watch out for tree limbs etc. the cuts across from big bear marina and some around moors all have buck brush, the years we were lucky to have the water up it was a blast fishing, many patterns work on either fish moving back out of late spawners.

Hi guys,

I've been reading through past posts on this thread and have been reading about the Saturday Night Fish Fry you're planning... sounds like a good idea to me! The only thing is, and I don't want to sound like a kill joy, but I don't think you should be killing and cooking bass, at least not under the banner of a "Bass Fishing Member Event". I'm not one to argue with anyone over whether keeping bass to cook and eat is the right or wrong thing to do. If it's legal.. it's legal. But many of us, myself included, work extra hard in regards to the preservation and conservation of this particular fish, and it always pains me to see bass killed and removed from the lake. Not because fish have feelings or any of that PETA-type non-sense, but because of the money and efforts thousands of people put forth every year to make sure that the bass we do catch can return to the lake to prosper and be caught again another day. As avid bass fishermen, I would think we'd have a greater respect for the conservation of our fish.

If you would like to keep bass you catch to eat, that's up to you and I won't argue. But I would like to request that you keep it very discreet and not allow photos of the dead fish or fillet'd bass. I for one wouldn't allow myself to be caught in a photo where there are purposefully killed bass. Whether or not eating bass is right or wrong can be debated, but I think I speak for most bass anglers when I say it shouldn't be put on display, because it will only inflame those that do have strong opinions on the subject. If I came in after a day's fishing and saw a bass club having a largemouth bass fish fry, I'd be pretty irritated and wonder what on earth they were doing.

Again, I don't want to be a kill joy, but I had to say it and request those few things if you decide to eat bass.

ok, kevin we won't take pictures of dead bass, and like i said earlier, if folks want to have crappie, bream or cats, that is fine by me. and i am NOT offended. heck, i probably won't catch any anyway. and i will let the bigguns go kevin, as well as the mamas that haven't laid their eggs too. i too am hoping for the crappie. they taste great.

but i would like to have a picture of the bass, then we will release them. we can keep em alive in our livewells for nice "group picture" right?

and nofear, come on pal, we'll put you in a rig woody is a fine fell, and i haven't met him face to face. but he and the rest of the gang here are the TOPS pal.

Honestly, We rarely ever keep bass to eat up here (lol,we don't have to with walleye and yellow perch) But Idon't think it's wrong to keep a few as long as you're not keeping any monters. Besides the 15" range fish are better eating. I gues we'll have to talk about it when we get down there. Oh yeah, we're definately still in!

I don't see how keeping crappie and throwing back bass is any better.

We dont need to overdo it, but it makes perfect sense to me to fry some of the catch. I wont eat more than a single bass myself, 2 filets and some potatoes. I think if every one just ate 1 bass, that 15 or so fish...thats nothing on a lake like Kentucky.

From looking at the list we've got a bit more than 20 if more people don't cancel. Still a great turnout.
