Default Favorite Electronic Feature

Hey guys, in the upcoming weeks I am going to be purchasing some electronics from one of our sponsors (hopefully their demos they will let go cheap). I know I want a GPS and Structure Scan... but other than that I cant really think of any features I would want. I am curious, what are your guy's favorite features? Any I should really want?

Go big!! No really. If you want to use GPS, DI, and SI you want an 8"+ screan to view everything in an easy to read format. My TX partner has 2 HDS 10's and they are great. I know others have HB's and love them as well. It pretty much is a Chevy vs. Ford thing IMO.

I hope they can get me an HDS 10 for cheap lol. But we will see. I do like the comment on the 8+ screen, bigger is always better.

If you want the SI & DI features - Hummingbird units have that integrated in the unit, with Lowrance you'll need an additional module for SI and that will run another $600 +/-.
As mentioned the small 5" screens don't allow easy viewing. I have 'birds, an 797cSI (5" screen) and an 1197cSI (10" screen). The 797 up front is very difficult to see when standing, and it will be replaced this spring with a larger unit.

I have 5 in bird units and dont have a problem viewing as have two one up front one at console, one thing to remember all the hd units operate at slow speed, not something one views on wide screen at any speed. Most of the birds can be operated on dual beam transducers as well and with an expensive switch one can eliminate the need for two depth finders on the console.Research both brands then choose accordingly,as pointed out by someone else look at what each includes and how they each operate and then dont buy a transducer not included either brand or its $ down the road.As a pkg the optional isnt that bad alone its a lot more$.
