1998 Skeeter SS90 16'2", 90HP Yamaha 2-stroke, SS prop: 43mph GPS only myself, full tank, and fishing tackle. I think a different prop would get me some more speed but the boat porpoises too much for me to really want to go much faster.

What prop ya got bud??? A boat that porpises usually has one of 2 problems........one being its under powered ,even at that there are a couple of things you can do to bandaid that and NOT a doel fin. or 2 if the bote has enough power then the prop is loosing bite either because of the wrong prop or it is set wrong. If ya wanna remedy it let me know a couple of things.....what is max hp for your rig, what prop ya got and what holes are the engine mounted in. From there we can start to try and fix that and get ya closer to 50. I have a boat very very similar to yours so I already have worked out the bugs......no pun intended un the bug comment LOL skeeter.

I had a guy at the river run his mouth about his speed for about a year so last weekend I tosted him my Garmin GPS (hand held) he ran and ran and ran when he got back the GPS said his top speed was 62.4 he sais "I would have thought it was faster than that"
My Insurance man asked me how fast my boart ran I told him it will do 60 ...and it will I swear.

Sunday I raced an Allison and a Basscat. I beat the basscat and tied the Allison. Perhaps I would have beaten the Allison too, but I forgot to take the drift sock out of the water. Stupid me.

I have the same boat as mentioned (skeeter ss90) 16.3ft with a 97 Merc 90 two stroke on it. I just put this motor on it. Bought it completely rebuilt so it runs great. I am struggling getting this set up correctly as well. I run it currently in the second set of holes from the top on the mounting bracket. Prop is 13 1/2 21 pitch turbo. RPMs run about 5300 trimmed just right. I also find it has a lot of "bounce" at about 45mph which is about as high as I can get it. Any suggestions?

You oughta be somewhere around a 25p Need to know what your max rpms are and what top end speed is. Forget about the propshaft to pad measurement but need to know amount of setback........what years are boat and motor????

Ok bud sounds like you are REAL close to being where ya need to be. Porpising,,,,,,,,,,,from reading and going by what you have posted........is being caused by prop loosing bite because the prop is TRYING to lift the hull and keep her nose up at THE RPMS you are at. SO.......you need some cup added to the prop and a drop in pitch and WHOLA !!!!........she oughta settle right down ............she oughta pick up about 350 rpms a couple mph and settle right down. You say you running a Turbo.......is it in pretty good shape????
