First Musky outing of the year!
My dad and I decided to hit Lake Hudson and try to get us another musky. After leaving the house at about 7:30 and getting about 6 miles down the road, we realise we left the $30 sticker to get in the park in my dad's truck. Now let me explain. We went up there before the KY lake thing to make sure everything we'd done to the boat over the winter worked right. You have to have this sticker for MI state parks and recreation areas or you'll get a ticket. We told the DNR officer that that would be the only time this year we'd be up there in that truck and asked if it was ok to not put the sticker on. He'd said yeah.
So, after turning back to get the sticker, we headed out. I stuck it in the handle indent thingy on my side of the truck and was planning to put it on when we stopped for gas in the boat at a gas station on the way. We get to the gas station, picked up some gatorade, etc, etc and got on out wat. About 4 miles down the road, I realize, I forgot the put the sticker on. I look down OH CRAP!!!! yep, no sticker. My dad decides to forget it and get a new one. So, we got to the lake a little late. Anyways, on our little hunt around the park to find the DNR officer to buy a new one, we run into a guy who really knows his way around this lake and has gotten 8 musky in one day on there before. He gives us some tips, places to fish, and lures to try (needless to say, that is gonna lead to a trip to Cabela's) Anyways, we got out and start trolling where he said. After an hour and a half, I'm watching the rods and see one right behind my dad (who's driving) go crazy and line start pulling out. I jump up, grab the rod out of the rod holder, set the hook, tighten the drag, and hand the rod over to my dad (it was on his side of the boat). I grab the rod next to it to start bringing in the other baits to avoid a tangle. after three nice jumps and head shakes, the approx 3ft long musky throw the small 4" lure. So, my dad didn't get his first musky, but we had had about 2 hours left to fish. We troll some more and go over to the spot where we've had the best luck. On the first pass through there, another hit on driver's side of the boat, but this time I'd driving, so I get the fish. My dad grabs the rod while I'm stopping the boat and sets the hook. Missed him! No more bites after that, but had a good day with a hit and a lost fish. Ugh, not we got to go to a graduation party. If not,we'd still be fishing. BB

Musky fishin' takes determination...you don't catch a lot, but they're good catches when you get 'em. Reminds me of trolling for pike as a kid. FEEISHH AWNN! Great story!
