Default when do you use spinnerbaits in shallow water

ive tried spinner baits many times the last few months in the ponds i fish to no avail, usually the water is fairly clear and warm with grass on the bottom (hydrilla?) and the water will be no more than 4-5 feet deep with little other structure or cover. Are spinnerbaits usually used for different kinds of situations, cuz from what ive read a lot of people seem to like them for a ton of situations

You'll get better results after the water gets some stain or murk to it, probably after a rain or wind storm, the fish get too good of a look at in the clear water that you have been fishing.

Next time its real windy or after some rain go try the spinnerbait again, it tends to be a hot bait in the spring and fall

well i would like to use a small mini king for that hydrilla, but in that situation i would use a topwater frog and that doesnt work a tiki or lizard is worth a shot

if the water stays clear,i would use a rat-l-trap,fast retrieve, even i cant get a good look at it

if you're gonna throw a spinnerbait in that kind of condition...I'd make it a small one. Maybe a mini-king or something that size or smaller. In the clear water I'd almost always use double willowleaf. Sometimes silver, sometimes painted. I wouldn't vary much from white, clear, or any other very natural colors you can find. Spinnerbaits are best used in windy conditions, in colored water, and around cover.

I do best with spinnerbaits in stained water or low vis conditions and you will probably do better on you waters with them after a rain or if it is windy with some chop on the water. They can catch fish in clear water too, but not as well IMO. If I plan on trying them in clear water, I will change out the blades to a smaller size so that I can burn the bait really fast without it rolling over and make the fish react to it. There are new hidden head style baits coming out that allow for this right out of the box with no blade change needed. I will also try really small spinnerbaits in clear water.

Other than that, try a Senko!

stop looking down for spinner bait conditions look up clear water and a sunny day will give the bass to good of a look at the bait. best conditions are cloud cover and windy. or in stained to muddy conditions.
