I think the regular size spook can be intimadating to a new user of this lure, where the jr. size seems more reasonable to manage..I just couldn't believe how receptive the bass where last year in clearer than normal waters compared to many other years of me trying the spook off and on with limit success..it even outdid the buzzbait for me last year...

Spooks are great baits. I do make one modification to them: I add a split ring to the hooks. The way they are attached from the factory can give the fish some extra leverage to throw the hook. Adding a split ring eliminates this.

Adding a split ring eliminates this. Reb, thanks for that tip, I had forgot to modify my spooks last year with the split ring. Once in a tourney with Tony, I watched him go through a few spooks over the course of the weekend, he twitched them so much the rear trebles wore through the spooks body due to constant friction of the hooks rubbin' |

The saltwater version I buy have the split rings already on, extra weight, and a tad bit bigger.

I do like how the Spooks catch fish, but I have to admit, it wears you out, and I just don't like walking the dog all day.
JB, Great insight on folks being afraid of the Super Spook, I have noticed the same thing about the size. Lots of folks still think they are fishing for crappie of gills LOL Lizards

In gin clear water or where there are large populations of Smallmouth I preferr the super spoook Jr to the other sizes , I like several colors depending on the conditions. Someone mentioned the white with red head, I have a couple that are very translucient with a prism tape inside. They have been the most consistant of all. In muddy or stained water I like the full size spook better. Fish2win

I like the chrome with the black back. The Jr. is my favorite among the spook sizes.
