Default Central Alabama ponds.

I have tried for a few years now to get access to some ponds. It seems people are not as willing to allow non-relatives to fish in their ponds as they were when I was young. I had a membership in one for a while but it belonged to an older fellow who is now dead. No one ever did any fertilizing or tending to it the two or three years I was a member. I would have considered fertilizing it myself except it was about 25 acres and flooded regularly. Not sure I could have afforded to do that more than once. I keep looking but really frustrating since I don't own a big boat.

I live in LaGrange, GA and am having the same luck. Best to make friends with people that have ponds. Ask around at church, at work, or if you bump into someone at a lake. I know we have West Point Lake but it's honestly gone to junk. Without a boat to hide from the jetskis and other partiers, it's hard to find the fish.

Did you look into Donovan lakes like I suggested?

I did. A little out of my price range at the moment. I am supporting one in college.

Understood.

What a shame, the fishing at all of the lakes is truly top notch.

One thing to consider, is that most years they will drop the membership price to $600 or even sometimes $400 around the middle of the year. Kind of a proration of price since the membership only runs through Jan 1st. If that interests you just look back at the website every now and then.
