I always thought having one of those under water cameras would be neat. On days when fishing is slow, it would give you an opportunity to really see what's going on below. Seeing those pike would warm me up fast!

Ya they are now a main stay on the ice.
Twenty ice houses/shanties, probably 16 will have a camera in.
Anglers basically watch TV and see the fish actually bite bait, then they set.

It's kinds of like playing a video game on the ice.

The funny thing is how my 798 on kayak has a flasher mode yet almost NO-ONE uses flashers on ice anymore.
And a good flasher is like $500 bucks while you can get a portable fish finder or camera for like a $150. Guess I know why the cameras are so popular.

And with the advance of heaters and 'portable shanties'.....it's like fishing on your couch.

My buddy actually has his shanty walls lined with tropical pictures and fishes with a long sleave tee.
Another buddy has a camera that connects, 'wi-fi', to his cell.

The day of the tip up is almost dead.

Pike are very active ALL winter long. If the pans aren't hitting it usually means a Pike is somewhere close.

I have to give that diver a lot of credit. Working upside down like that is very hard to do. How do I know he is upside down? Watch the bubbles. Being a diver I know how difficult that can be. I'm impressed. OK, sorry to hijack the thread.

Ice fishing is something I have not ever tried but I'm crazy enough to try it.

Speak for yourself many of us dont have hard wa WA,would need pontoons on a shed.
Also glad you like it,but can keep it up north please.
Here the pike and bass get on existing grass balls or patches till feb or therebouts.then late winter rains or spring rains raise the water level and wipe it out for a few months.
