Default prop bait

i am currantly using a devil horse and a standard torpeedo. but what i am looking for is a bait the compactness of a torpeedo with 2 props on it. as a devil horse is a large bait the shad in this area is a tad small about 3" or so the bass imo are not going to hit a big bait any time soon -later in the year yeah but not now .

Zooker, Sounds like your looking for a Cotton Cordell Boy Howdy lure.I liked the Heddon Dying flutter lure better than the Devils horse. Its a little shorter and thinner profiled, but produced more fish for me most often than a Devils horse did.P N J

Thanks, PnJ-I could see the lure but for the life of me couldn't remember the name.

Well again I stand corrected. Thanks Hula.I thought they were a Boy Howdy , but I was wrong, the Boy Howdy's are longer like a Devils horse. Sorry Zooker. P N J http://www.lurenet.com/catalog.aspx?catid=BoyHowdy

Boy howdy is an old time bait and expression here in the hills lol,

I've had lots more luck with the compact baits like the torpedo vs. the devils horse, I don't understand that really, because I've had big fish on top water stick baits like the bang o lure, but for some reason add a prop to the nose or arse and for me they want the short stubby version rather than the long skinny bait...its probably a "match the hatch" deal like zooker mentioned

Zook, The exact bait you are looking for was made by Heddon in the 60 and 70. It was called a Skip jack. It had spinners on both ends and was the size of a tiny Torpeado. They still may be in production.I did see a version of it in a clearance bin at Wallmart about a year ago. It is tappered on both end and has a spinner on both ends. They are 3 1/2 to 4 inches long. Back in the old days the yellow coach dog pattern was killer. If they are out of production try E bay.
