Default solving the bandit 100 mystery

i like using the bandit 100's cause they slap catch fish..
now i have had no consistent problems with any other bandit brand crankbaits..
but if you have ever used this bait much you know for some unexplained reason bass tend to come unbuttoned consistently. more so on this bait than many others.. i have no idea way they come unhooked, weather it be the lip shape, the body shape, or the truely crappy hooks..

the first two there is not much you can do to help on a shallow diver..
i solved the hook problem this way a long shanked mustad treble on the rear and the short shanked gammy treble on the front..most of the time i fish them in shallow dense cover.

if you do get a bass on the front hook chances are the rear hook will be attached also.. i have rarely lost fish from a mustad tripple grip hook..

Triple Grips are my hook of choice, I had no idea you liked these so much, I've got you covered, sir.

I also like the tripple grips. Did the hooks solve the problem, or are you still in the testing phase?

I'm wondering if too stiff a rod is a part of the unbuttoning.

I almost always switch the front treble from that cheesy little #6 to a red #4 and test each lure in the swimming pool to assure that it doesn't affect the action too much. That seems to help somewhat. I do this with most of my cranks and lipless cranks.

Yeah, the Gamagatsu's on the Bandit are pretty weak hooks. The way that the hooks curve back into themselves on those hooks results in a lot of skin-hooking in the mouths of the fish. I trade the Gammy's out with Eagle Claw Laser Sharp hooks. The straight set ensures that the hook penetrates all the way around the lip instead of just hooking in the lip skin. I haven't lost a fish yet since I've been using the Eagle Claws.

there isnt a crank etc i dont instantly change the hooks on, right when I get em home, diachi, gama's, something sharp. and even then, right out of the box gama's, ill sharpen more. Ask any pro, what the most critical element is. Sharp hooks. heres a test to make sure its sharp. run the hook along your fingernail at about a 45 degree angle, if the hook doesnt catch, its not sharp enough. if it catches, you are good to go.
