Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report From Guide Jim Reaneau

Well, I have been out of town for the past week and have just gotten home. I have heard some mixed reports but for the most part the fish are biting. The weather has been hot. The rain is back in the forecast and has cooled down the temps. The crappie have still been slow and the size has held small around the bridges. Brush piles have been the best for keeper fish. 25 to 30 foot has been the best depth. Jigs and minnows are the best bait. The bass are hitting top water early on pop’r type baits. Keep a lipless crank bait handy for the schooling activity. Weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Zoom Flukes, Lake Fork Tackle Zig Zags & Ring fries have been good early over grass and points. These can be fished wacky or weightless.

The drop shot should be part of your fishing arsenal, this is a fish catching technique. Swim baits, Carolina rigs, big spinner baits, lipless crank baits, jigging spoons, and jigs are all good baits over deep structure. The thermacline is starting to show up and the fish are suspending.

I have some dates open in July and August so give me a call.
