Default winter fishing was worth it today!

it was cold, wind chills were in the high 20's or low 30's but in one bite it all was worth it! it was awesome because when i walked her down to the dock to release her i carried her right in front of a buch of guys in a bass club in their high $ bass rigs and they all gathered around shaking my hand and asking questions. made me feel really good! she weighed 8#'s even. winter fishing is miserable at times. the bites can be slow but generally they are good ones.

thanks...i was fishing a small city lake (which makes it even better because that lake has a friggin ton of fishing pressure) anyways it's a fairly shallow lake and i found a flat that was 4 to 5 feet deep and has a channel running through it that is 10 to 12 feet deep and these fish are moving to the flats and eating shad but they are within just a few yards of the deep water. i have caught several fish 3 to 6 #'s in this spot recently and i think this pattern should hold up for a while. anyways i caught her on a rattle trap. 1/4 oz. and silver and black.

What a great bass - and even better that you had to walk it past all the other people out there fishing. KING FOR THE DAY!

just my luck!!! i found out yesterday that our bass pro shop in springfield is looking for large fish of just about any species to put in their aquarium. they would of come to pick her up and after a quarentine she would have been in their store for everybody to see and growing even bigger. they would have treated her like royality until the day she died and given me a replica for free. i wish i would have known this before i released her because i fear whoever catches her next may not be as kind to her.

What a beautiful bass. Congrats. I bet you had a ball walking past the bass club guys with that. It's always a kick to showup the experts. I once was staying at a resort in Minnesota for a fishing trip with my brothers. My boat slip happened to be right next to the resort guides slip. I returned from a short outting which had been very successful. Tying my boat up to my slip I could hear the guide appoligizing to a young couple he had taken out for the day. They hadn't caught a thing that day and he was explaining to them that happens sometimes and he wasn't going to charge them for that days outting as they caught nothing. You can imagine the look in his face when I pulled my limit of walleyes out of my livewell and walked past his slip, hehehe

yeah it was a great feeling. i mean don't get me wrong i am far from an amature. i was born in a family full of anglers and my dad and cousin were die hard tourny fishermen in there younger and single days and i have spent several years worth between them in the boat so i was raised right! and i have studied bass fishing hard as well, at the same time i am not rick clunn yet either. but your right walking a monster bass in front of guys that are really proud of themselves (who come to find out got blanked that day too). it gives you a suge of confidence. for a while anyways!

At the lake I'm fishing.... an 8 pound bass is nowhere to be seen, my buddies even said they'd mount it for free if I ever did catch one!!!

I've been out and about, bringing small stringers of bass of poor size, but I hope that'll change someday

anyway, nice catch, makes me wana go fishing again

yeah my wife and i bought her last february...for a smaller boat she handles rough water really well and fishes real comfortable. i think i may be selling her withing the next year or so to get a new boat. the front casting deck just isn't big enough for the way i move around and have rods all over the place, and i would like to fish more tourny's but i feel like i need a little more prestigous boat. i know a brand new boat won't catch anymore fish but i would just feel more like i belong.

yeah, when i finally get mrs. carolina-rig-01 to give me the go ahead i have a lot of boats in mind but i really like the new stratos and i would like to look for a bass cat as well. i don't have to have a 21 foot boat but i want a boat that will fly and be safe at the same time. any ideas there?
