Default new bottom technique!!!

Ok the other day I told yall about the new pb that i caught on a swim bait hook with a lizard attached to it. I have been fishing since then and there would be no bite with dop shotting, carolina rig, or texas rigged worms or lizards....But when i go back to the swimbait hook and put a lizard on it, they seem to eat it up and plus there is less false nibbles....Does anyone else use a wieghted swimbait hook to fish the bottom? Because for me it is killing!!!!

That's what I use for craws. I've never used a hook with a keel weight for worms and anything else!

I have used it on lizzards and craws. Not so much because of a planned effort, but more because I didn't want to re-tie. I don't like them on worms because it leads to a lot of short tail strikes for me.

I had that problem the other day...I have got atached to the 8 inch lizards but a problem is the short strikes so i solvd that problem by taking off the tail...It would be hard for a worm though!!!!

Why do you suppose they bite the lizard when rigged with a weighted hook, yet won't with the t-rig? I would think it's the more horizontal fall. If this is the case you could use a nail in the body to achieve the same thing.

That's very true, it's cause of the vertical fall with a t-rig, and horizontal fall with a keel weighted hook!

But with a T-rig, the lizard is nose down...vertical. With a weighted swimbait style hook, the weight is closer to the middle of the lizard, so it stays oriented horizontally, but still falls vertically. That very well might make the difference in getting bit or not.
