Worms for drop shot

ok started fishing drop shot and love it caught half my fish off of it but i only use zoom finesse worms so does anyone have any more suggestions for what worms to use on a drop shot

Chomper's 4" DS worm. These things are great and one of my new favorites.

Also, Zoom swamp crawlers or any finesse worm. But Like I and many others have said before, don't limit yourself to worms when DS'ing. Flukes, Tubes, Senkos, Creatures, Gobys, etc. Anything you can think of will work on a DS.

Just use the search feature. There have been many posts on this. Personally, I like roboworms, zoom finesse worms, and 3x by strike king.

Roboworms rock. However, I recommend that you use whatever other worms you can think of and even other plastics. There isn't a law that dictates that only worms must be used for the drop shot. Think out of the box.

What do you guys think about fishing a Gulp Alive grub or small minnow on a drop shot rig? I ask because I have some laying around and haven't fished them with anything in awhile and thought this might be a good application.

I think Gulp is always the way to go when fishing soft plastics.

i tried gulp and they seem to hang down sense they are so dense but i havent really tried fishing them as hard as some others

For Drop Shotting 95% of the time I use a 4 3/4 inch Zoom finesse worm. I've nose hooked a 4 inch grub from time to time, as well as a 6 inch Super Fluke, but nothing puts fish in the boat like the Zoom Finesse worms for me.

If you're going to try tubes, find ones without salt.

How about color selection? I know water clarity is a key to the selection, but how about time of year? I have mostly darker colors. Haven't fished the drop shot much. I've heard nothing but positive remarks for it. Does it also work with shoreline fishing or is there another set up that might work better offshore?

I fish the NYC reservoirs that range from generally clear to well stained water. As long as the Bass can see or feel the movement of the worm, they'll come and investigate it. The more stained the water is, the closer to the lure the Bass have to be to become interested in it, or so they say. I've caught plenty of LM in stained water with my DS rig. However, this is where color comes into play for me.

In clear to lightly stained water, I prefer Green Pumpkin or Watermelon with Red or Blue flake. In stained water I go with Black or June Bug. the darker contrasting colors just makes it easier for the Bass to see it.
