Default cold weather fishing

i saw on espn this morning a guy was using pretty much dark baits only in this cold weather. i dont know if the temperature was his reason for using dark baits or not, but if someone could help me out, is fish slow, deep, and use dark baits the way to go for cold weather ? thanks.

Not all the time. Usually you got clearer water in the winter so same colors apply to water clarity. Usually fishing slow is the only way to go. Some days if it gets really warm and sunny a crankbait on rocks can get you a couple. Just fish greens and browns in clear, Blacks and blue in dirtier water.
