Heroes on the Water Kayak Fishing Tournament was a great success!

The tournament went off without a hitch yesterday and it seemed that everyone had a great time. We had nine participants - not bad considering that the only advertisement for this event was online and only three weeks prior the date. All of the $10 entry fees paid by the anglers for a total of $90 is going to Heroes on the Water, and because nobody won the Northern Pike category, a little extra donated cash is going to HOW also. Fuzzy Guppies provided the free use of their launch, donated merchandise so nobody left empty handed, and provided prizes for the winner(s). We also got to eat and judge lots of delicious chili for the Waterloo Harbor Chili-Fest that began immediately after our event.




Corey Smith from the RIT Bass Club won the longest Bass category.


Several members of the RIT Bass Club participated.



The post-frontal fishing appeared to impact the size and numbers of of fish, but most everybody was successful in catching something and a good time was had.


We are already planning this event again for next year to coincide with the Chili-Fest. The venue is a good one and we think we will be able to grow this into a large tournament to benefit a great cause.
