spinning around plastics
What kind of rod/reel do you guys use for soft plastics? I use a spinning rod because I always backlash with a baitcaster.

Depends. For T-rigs I use an AllStar WR1, soft jerkbaits I use a Falcon Low Rider weightless worm rod, and C-rigs I use a Falcon Low Rider Carolina Lizard dragger. Use a BPS Extreme reel for the T-rig and C-rig and a Team Daiwa 153HST for the weightless worm, all baitcasters.

bionic blade w/ shimano sahara, BPS IM8 w/ extreme reel, falcon 6'6" for the small, tight canals w/ overhangs, shakespeare spinning reel. Really just got the hang of throwing plastics w/ baitcaster. The larger ones are easy, the small ones tend to give me a few bird nest headaches.

Depends on size and technique, but generally I use spinning for plastics, just cause I can throw them farther. BUt if I'm dropping tubes or creatures in brush, definitely baitcaster.

I use a Shimano Clarus 6'0'' MH with a Shimano Sahara 2500FB mainly for T-rigging plastic worms like keepers and roboworms.. I also use a Crucial 6'6 with a Sedona 2500FB for weightless/T-rigged senkos... Sometimes I will use my baitcaster setup, which i currently use for jigs, Cranks, spinners/buZZ baits, when I'm "trying" to flip/pitch a tube or a grub... All I know is that I need and want to get more setups, got my eye on a few, just havent been to the local tackle shop lately...hehehe

I also make use of some Falcon Lowriders and consider them a great buy in the 100 buck range. I've never owned a St,Croix Premier (also 100 bux for the new series) but would be proud to own one. FR |
